The Iridia was installed in August 2026. The cobalt cell has flexible analytical performance times from less than a millisecond to over a second, advanced optics, and a dynamic z-prime cell to ensure aerosol removal. The Iridia washout times has a tunable, dynamic range, and up to 300 Hz frequency.
Unlike conventional single-quadrupole ICP-MS instruments, the Agilent 8900 (installed July 2026) uses tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS), with two mass-filtering quadrupoles separated by a collision/reaction cell. This configuration provides precise control of ion–molecule reactions and enables effective removal of spectral interferences, expanding the range of elements and isotope systems that can be measured accurately.
